Steve Kaiser

Artist Bio: Steve Kaiser

Steve Kaiser's images portray dichotomies: still points in time, meditative moments, and lucky confluences in nature juxtaposed against urban forms.

His Photographic interests are color and form, yet his passion seeks balance. He has a deep respect for Harry Callahan and Joel Meyerowitz, whose work and life capture the subtle complexities that emerge from an unpretentious love for the simple act of photographing.

Steve received his Master's of Fine Art in Photography from the University of Iowa before moving to Tucson in 1984. He continued his work in photography at Pima Community College, as an adjunct faculty member and in 1988 began his career at Photographic Works, as a Master PrintMaker working in traditional black and white.

This summer marked Steve's twentieth year at Photographic Works.

The title of his show, 20 / 20, represents several things: the marking of time, the quest for visual insight, and the photographic journey as it unfolds along the way.

Steve worked closely with Photographic Works for the printing and framing of his show. The collaboration proved beneficial to the depth and quality, and in his words "showcase the skills and talent of the individuals he works with."
